Open Ups - Public lectures of the workshops
The eighth day

The Libanese architect Tony Chakar scrutinises Hezbollah’s plans to rebuild a suburb of Beirut destroyed in Israeli bombings. Such terms as ‘sense of community’ and ‘cohesion’ remind him of concepts from National Socialist Germany. Chakar contrasts the effort to avoid calamities by the book with a fundamental impossibility of describing disasters.
